Just received the Academy Panther G "Last Production" kit today. Nice looking kit with some nice reviews out there.

Started with the hull which is a 4 piece affair. It went together quickly, minus the rear plate at this time. The two pieces that attaches to both sides and bottom keeps everything square and adds strength I thought a very nice touch.

Aaaah, you’re one of them! I used to see Nick (Geek44) do this all the time, painting bits on the sprue; I always thought that’s a brilliant time saver, but somehow I always glue the buggers on and then paint them…I’ve always wondered if that’s a bad rookie mistake on my part, hahaha. Funny you should say ‘slow but sure’… that’s EXACTLY the speed I’m working at on my build

I usually put it all together then paint also, Shep Paine put his together then painted "If you can see it you can paint it." But with this type of road wheel, at least with the inner ones, I can hide any little painting flaws behind the outer wheels.

You are off to a great start on this! Can't wait to see it progress. I don't typically paint on the sprue, but I can see how it would simply some things.
I'm currently building Academy's 1/25 Panther G with a bunch of aftermarket photo etch.

1. Working on the engine deck, this grillwork went together like a dream.

Only the right hand side had louvered grill work.

Stretched sprue weld lines worked in with back of #11 blade.

Working on road wheels, not all that happy with the brown and may re-do them. I ran across a Ron Volstad print of a Panther G Late with a two color scheme of dark yellow and green that I like.

I generally use the 2-color road wheels on a lot of my past builds… it gives the piece a nice eye pop, as well as being historically accurate more times than not. More and more, I’m relying on weathering at the end to take care of any issues with wheels Love the louvers work… I always greatly admire that level of detail to a build, which I’ve yet to try myself; I’ve never done PE.
