Another oldie, but a goodie from the old forum. I forgot who suggested it, but I seem to remember Lucky Luke as the culprit! I always loved seeing what our OCONUS buddies have for local cuisine!
I’ll start… tonight was Pasta E fagoli and home made bread

Ahhhh, I love grilled Brats! I’d had them here now and then, but they were never as good for some reason, as they are at my brother or sister’s in Wisconsin! Must be a regional and heritage thing.
Last night, we had take out, as we’re getting a new shower installed, taking up all day yesterday (round 2 today)… Karen wanted pizza so, we got two smalls to share, ‘cause she decided to try a favorite from the 1970’s… pepper and onions! She loved it! It want like the old days, when they used to smother the pizza so you couldn’t even see the cheese, but it was still good! The other was something called Maria’s Favorite… zucchini, eggplant, artichokes, with garlic and oil, and hot sauce… fantastic!!!

Pool party and cookout at Sis in laws house starting this afternoon, so far all we know is they are grilling pork. The wife is baking a cake and making up a fruit bowl then a bonfire and s'mores to top it all off.
My nephew and his family are back from California where they were living the past 6 months as Matt is a traveling nurse.

Our field fresh sweet corn is still a couple weeks in the future but we are both looking forward to it as we always do! I roasted a couple ears of store bought on the grill last week that turned out to be some good ears, don't know where they came from but were still pretty fresh. And I don't mind a veggie burger every now and then, they can actually be pretty tasty. We have a box of Bocca in the freezer right now.

I love French toast! …particwhen it’s Texas toast, though I grew up with plain old stale white bread made to French toast. My wife makes an Italian version with stale Italian bread, the secret being to grate in Pecorino Romano cheese into the egg and water mixture, dunk the bread in, and fry it in olive oil… finish with salt and pepper to taste. It’s the recipient Karen git from her Italian grandmother

Had an appointment for some legal matters for mom in law yesterday, so Karen and I took a little detour to a great German restaurant on the way home… haven’t had German in a long time! It’s called the Munich Hause munichhaus.com/This place has the option to have Weiner Schnitzel made with veal instead of pork, which is how I first had on a training trip to Ft. Huachuca back around 1990, at the Officer’s Club. I think that was the first actual German food I’d ever had… and that’s what I had! It was amazing, and still is. Such a wonderful memory, too. Last night, they serve homemade potato chips with a dipping sauce, which were so yummy! We’d also ordered a giant salted pretzel that came with a cheese spread and a sweet mustard sauce. We both ate about half of it and brought the rest home. The main meal of schnitzel came with two huge paddies, one of which came home as leftovers, with red cabbage and spatzle... I usually get sauerkraut, but I’ve really gotten into red cabbage for the modeler taste. All this was washed down with a huge mug of Raddler (German Spaten beer mixed with Sprite soda) and a glass of Cola Weiss (Weiss beer with Cola soda). This was all great until dessert… Heiss Himbeeren… warm sweeten raspberries over two scoops of vanilla ice cream. I think that was what caused tummy issues later that night A wonderful meal after a meeting with a lawyer is almost a post requisite! The price of the dinner out was sticker shock, as it is even at a fast food joint. These inflated prices are a killer. Add is a parking ticket ‘cause I couldn’t find downtown parking lot space near the lawyer’s office, due to major city construction and, well, I could have bought two games! Yikes!
