Took a Mulligan in the last game. So I got it all setup for another try.

The Matrix, with an example of how it works. Attacker chooses his type of attack (frontal attack) and for the defender I pick a chit blind for defensive posture.(defense in depth) How to read the outcome is on the right side.

On turn one the Germans can activate all their HQ's first, this is after 3 HQ activations. Going pretty good now. I was supposed to leave the Exploitation Markers on the 2 SS units I moved using that mechanic so will need to put them on the units tomorrow.

First turn is done and in the books. Germans start with advances across the map, not surprising though as the Germans activate all their HQ's first on turn one. Plus the US only has three activation chits to work with anyway. Americans mainly just withdraw into better positions.

Looks extremely accurate per the actual battle! Great conglomeration of furious counters!!! It’s such a great looking game and I’m pleased as punch to see it playing out. Love the Panzer at top… great visual while gaming, and photography.

Love the Panzer at top… great visual while gaming, and photography. I thought it looks pretty accurate too. Also agree with you on a "great looking game." It's a whole different and unique spin on combat also with the matrix. The casualty check had me thrown off my game at first but enough digging around at bgg showed me where I went off track. That's why I took a Mulligan and reset. As for the panzer it just kind of landed there after doing a little work on it. It's not a kit, it's a Force's of Valor 1/18 Panther G I am trying to add a little extra realism to.

Germans are pretty much having their own way for now. 2nd Panzer Division captures Bastogne. Plenty of American along with some British Allies get ready to join in the action. post image online

Turn 3 ends with the Americans retaking Bastogne by kicking out 2nd Panzer. Now the city of Houffaize is in the sights of both armies.

Positions beginning turn 4. More American units enter the game. software screenshotThe battle for Bastogne itself has see-sawed back and forth between antagonists, at this point the depleted US 10th Armored Division has just kicked 2 Panzer out yet again. take screen shot

The game is still going on just a little slowly. Turn 5 starts and it's finally clear weather will bring air support for the US forces. Clear skies and air support not only means air attacks on German units it also means all German HQ's are out of command and seriously hampers movement of motorized units. Speaking of movement armor and mechanized infantry on both sides need to stay mainly on roads and HQ can only move by road. Off road movement even for infantry is a slow slog through the forests. If you have played Across the Narva it's kind of the same feel. Slow going and stick to roads if you want to get anywhere.

Clear skies bring the air power. 4 air units in clear weather, 2 on misty days and 0 on cloudy days. Air can be used offensively or defensively.
