The Tamiya TET etc is an effective and simple mix of 50% Acetone and 50% Butyl Acetate. Butyl Acetate is "cooler" than other solvents used in glues and the mix with the Acetone lets it run well.
It's actually classed as an organic compound as it is 'copied' from the Butyl Acetate found in fruits such as Bananas and Red delicious apples (No Em, take the apples out of the vitamiser, it's cheaper to buy the stuff). It is the reason for the sweet smell in nail polish and some paints. As long as you have reasonable ventilation when using it you won't have problems but don't use your Binford 6100 flamethrower too close to it.
You can actually buy it as a solvent / cleaner in 5, 20, or 200 litre lots but that may also require the purchase of over 2000 model kits to make use of it...... well it's a thought.

Just realised I bought and built this kit a few decades ago (cough) as it was on special with a Stug - both for $20.
Both went together fairly well as I remember. Might still have them somewhere.

I love the write-up on the TETc…I didn’t know the majority of that! …it did bring up some thoughts of using applesauce for parts joins but I threw that notion right out, as I like my applesauce! I’ve really taken to the cement and only use this at the moment, though a couple other brands I’ve seen have my interest; yet I still want to find some ModelMaster black bottle glue with the metal pipette if I can, as there have been a few parts in my builds that need that little extra goopiness to grab right (…yes, that’s a real word!)(kinda).
