The last mission of "Damsel in Distress" was a raid on the ball bearing works at Schweinfurt.
"Damsel" had an uneventful flight to the coast of France, after that it was a real fight just to get to the target, Damsel did score 3 ME109 and a FW190 downed but not after damage from all but one 109, flak was also intense causing much damage to the plane itself.
Damsel did make it to the target and dropped it's bombs but only scored one hit.
After turning around and heading back to base Damsel was jumped by a 109 that inflicted a rare (boxcars) double hit on an airframe that could only withstand one more. By this time Damsel already had two wounded, Left Waist and Co-pilot(yellow chips) and the Bombardier and Right Waist KIA (red chips)
