Working on some Wargames Atlantic WW1/early WW2 French in 28mm. These being WW1. A long ways to go yet, I'm not even done with laying on the basic colors yet.

Nice! What are you using for bases… look like poker chips? …and what glue do you use? Also, what paint brand(s) are you using?

Hi Em. I use fender washers for my bases in 28mm. Glue is Model Master liquid for the figures and white glue for any terrain. As for paints,Rust Oleum primer for plastic the rest are acrylics from Testors, Model Master, Citadel, Vallejo. Terrain is just the cheap acrylics you but for like 50 cents at your local big box store

Thanks for the materials list… I’m always interested in what folks use and results. I have a 100 white metal figs in 15mm that I’ll be doing up soon… my Vietnam figures, and it’s been a long time since I worked in the material. My last efforts were 28mm Stargate SG-1 miniatures that came with slotted bases for the slotted figure base, so I sunk them in plaster loaded under the hollow bases. I was considering Pennies for the base of the ‘Nam figs, and was assuming I’d need CA glue to affix.

Pennies and CA are what I use for 15mm. Works good! Those slotted bases you mentioned, why did they do them that way?

Pennies and CA are what I use for 15mm. Works good! Those slotted bases you mentioned, why did they do them that way? I asked myself that exact same question when I opened up the first pack of figures! The minis are from the UK and it was the first and last time I ran into them. They seem to call them “slotta” bases. No one I’ve seen has given a reason. I suppose they may save $$ in having a smaller foot plate, and some have no foot plate ar all, but rather a thin plinth like a statue (the latter would suck for necessity of more ground cover to make up the height). I also suppose the figure is better able to withstand shearing off the base when the mini falls or is handled way too much?

…and white glue for any terrain. I was just checking this thread out again and a question popped up on the White Glue you mentioned used for the bases… can you explain that a bit more: Are you saying you spread white glue on the base surface of the penny, around the base of the miniature figure to build up the “ground”? …if so, do yiu just sprinkle sand or something on the wet glue and let dry?

Yes, that is all I do. For big thick miniature bases I sometimes have to do it twice depending on how it dries. But that's all I generally do.
