This particular game shown above, is the 2nd Edition version of this wonderful platoon-level game by LNLP… an upgraded version retooled and adding a bit more chrome than the original 2010 1st edition (which I still own!). This new version has much better maps than the original, which have realistically rendered map art (as opposed to the cartoonish looking 1st edition maps).
…though I have to admit that I like the 1st edition counters far better, as they are cleaner looking and not as drearily dark (and I am not a big fan of all the color coding on the counters). The retooled version adds a few tweaks and additions to the rules, but overall, it plays very much as the same game as the original design, which is, one of the better games I’ve ever played. I adored this game from the first moment I bought it back in about 2010… and the new 2nd edition has earned a place as still being in my Top 5 Games.
As an idea of what I’m talking about, here’s a picture of the 1st edition…
I still play that 1st edition, but I have to admit that I like one of the biggest upgrades they did to the system… card draw for formations, rather than chit draw!
…yeah, that table cloth went a long tome ago, hahaha!
This will be the primary game I’ll be playing with my gaming buddy, Tim, at Compass Games Expo 2024 in a week and a half! In fact…it’s the same game we primarily played last November!
