I have been noting on social media, several wargamers that have taken to the habit of filling color onto the edges of their wargame counters. At first, I have to be honest in saying, I thought that a rather anal retentive exercise …however, while I don’t see myself personally as being that detailed and obsessive, I do have to admit to it’s place in certain circumstances. There are definitely, games that have pieces, especially thicker counters, that can benefit from this. While Sharpie pens have been seen as the solution, I worry at their tendency to bleed, which can irreparably ruin a counter(s) pretty darned quick! Acrylic paint pens would probably offer more accuracy and better results. But I think the simple watercolor pencil is the best solution I’ve seen, as you have a far broader reach in color pick, or even blending! Simply apply some white glue afterwards to seal it in place.
