We’ve discussed the subject of gaming in theme to particular, historical battles which our countries celebrate to honor our past and veterans. The 80th Anniversary of the D-Day is nearing later this week and I have been pondering what to play. I used to do a D-Day Gaming Event in the past, even taking time off from work to do I so, and my usually game of choice was Axis & Allies: D-Day… an awesome game and it really set the mood for honoring the day. I usually started the day out with watching The Longest Day, and then into gaming. This year, I’ll probably do the same movie watch, but of the games I do own for the Normandy landings, I’m looking to go old school with Panzer Leader! …I’ve been wanting to dig out this old classic and take ‘er for a spin, and now would be a good time! The other possibility is Advanced Squad Leader Starter Kit. Also a good choice.

If I hadn't just got Salerno 43 my plan was to have Breakout Normandy on the table.

If I hadn't just got Salerno 43 my plan was to have Breakout Normandy on the table. I thought of that one, too! I picked up a used copy at a flea market at Compass Games Expo a couple years back for a very low price… was missing the rulebook, but I found a pdf version online, which while not the greatest quality, gives me the rules! I remember you playing it, featured at the forum, and was always a Grail game of mine, so I was psyched to finally pick it up! Like so many games, it’s on the back burner, but will be played!!!
