My kitties love to command vast armies, and once in a while in their unyielding take-no-prisoners doctrine, devour whole platoons! If I leave the game table for even a couple moments to grab a snack or hit the latrine, I can come back to a large furry beast lying amongst the troops and moving flanks. I’ve placed the odd big box or large cardboard sheet over some of the mapbroad(s), but nothing super secure. I intended to build a covering piece, either with pegboard or plexiglas with wood supports at the under-edges, but that’s going to take a bit of time and money. This past week I stumbled on a solution that has set there on my desk for a full week with not a unit moved or snacked upon by small fangs. I already had my Western Front Tank Leader map set with my medium plexiglas sheet (20x26“) atop the game map, with some units placed for potential starting positions and I knew I wasn’t going to play the scenario that day. It was then stumbled on the idea of placing my small plexi (12x26“), used for ASL boards, over the players aid and unplaced units and cards, and then my large plexi (24x36“)for my big games. Further, I had used small white floor tile spacers for four adjacent hexes denoting the city victory hexes, and realized the top plexiglas sheet would rise above the counters, so I grabbed some of my bigger blue floor tile spaces and placed them along the periphery, which are thicker and therefore give a little more rise to the plexi undersurface. So far, nothing has moved, bit to ensure that, I placed my big-assed acoustic guitar TABS encyclopedia atop it all and voila! I mat still build that Cat Cover thing, but this seems to be a good solution for now!

You do know mate that you can never cat proof anything more than 99%... Ain’t that the truth! I had a previous attempt at this using a big sheet of cardboard and plexiglas, and seeing through the plexi, I witness at least one trying to stick her paw in an edge center gap to fish out a platoon of Germans.
