Well my interpretation anyway. This is the 1/72 Airfix Tiger1. Pretty basic kit but at $15.00 I wasn't expecting Tamiya. There is not much help for the tracks so the mud really serves a purpose here. Decals are for a tank of the 502 Heavy Panzer Battalion, Minsk area winter 43-44. The base is from Dollar Store covered with CelluClay with fine sand and pebbles sprinkled on. The brush and melting snow are from an old paint brush and baking soda. The wet areas were achieved using Pledge floor wax. All the fenders and onboard tools are molded on so with a new #11 blade I removed sections of fenders for a more battered appearance. closest gas station in this areaFun build that let me push my groundwork ability having never done a muddy environment in the past, I will not fear doing it now with an $80.00 kit.

WOWEEWOWWOW!!!! You did some amazing work with a budget 1/72 kit! Isn’t that an amazing feeling! …and you mentioned exactly what I like about a project like this, in testing new techniques and upping your game. Seriously lovely work, Mike! I’ve not been over at MSC for awhile so, I’ll be curious to hear their comments, as well…I’m trying to get a few of them there to post regularly here, too.
I have to remember that baking soda trick… I’ve not tried it yet and I’m sure it’s a game changer. Celluclay is another medium I need to try…it helps to see what’s what’s possible. I’ve been thinking of using Future in the same way for wet surfaces, too. What did you do for the bush?

17-$18.00 all in. Fun project that took a few weeks in the evening to complete.
