This is one I saw just tonight in Facebook, reviewed quickly as a top buy for the holidays by Danielle Stranding. I’d never heard that this game even came out back in 2022, nor that it was based on a computer video game… but MAN, did it catch my attention!!! I checked out some YouTube reviews (see below) and I was sold on making this my Christmas present to myself!!! Ordered the core game on Amazon! There are a couple expansions that came from the KickStarter, but they are going for astronomical prices (as is often the case these days… money grubbing bastards, hahaha). Here’s an awesome review… Here’s how to play solitaire… I look forward to playing this solitaire, in which the bot looks very good indeed… but even more excited to play this with two to o three other players!

My favorite PS2 game! I still have it on my bedroom shelf should I ever get another console.

My favorite PS2 game! I still have it on my bedroom shelf should I ever get another console. My wife urged me to get rid of my PS2 years ago, and it was one of my dumbest moves

Read through the core games’ main rulebook… a nice short read, written well and clearly. I got through them in a few short reading sessions over a few day…that’s fast for me! I get super anal in reading rules, to the point it’s a near memorizing ordeal. The author was kind enough to point out that the rulebook is basically divided into two sections… I started with the second sectioning of the rules at Page 10, which gives you a handle on icons, maps, and cards, as well as Line of sight (LOS), which is quite different than I am used too; and then return to page 4-9, which describes setup and core mechanics such as moving and shooting. It really flowed nicely that way for me. I’ll read/try the solo after I get a feel for the multi-player. As an aside, I now know REALLY want the expansion, “Eagles Nest” as soon as they reprint it, which *may* happen in 2024. I started with the punch-out bord, and then the colored disc bases for the German miniatures. The rules and game box don;t tell you a specific color per the three Officers, nor what Soldiers go with a particular Officer. As you may have guessed by now, with my earlier comment on obsessing on rules reading for any game, I out some thought on this (where many would have simply snapped those bases on )…and I peaked at pics on BGG, lol. The game itself has a very bottom tray, molded for the game components…nicely done, by the way, in not being flimsy thin (like memoir ‘44, like where gorilla fingered friends can easily poke holes in)… the German miniatures are arranged with an Officer and two Soldiers from left to right so, seeing the examples on BGG, I gave each officer it’s own separate color, and the two soldiers to the right of each in the tray got the same color. Of note, on the BGG examples, the soldiers’ colored bases didn’t match what the order the tray assigned! Kinda a good representation of why it takes so long for me to get a new game in play, hahaha.
