Received my copy today and thought I would share a couple pictures. Counters. Your counter is 1 six man patrol group. Maps have come a long way since his first couple B&W books.

Initial setup, just going to push some cardboard around to get the feel for it. Edit, I played 3 turns=1 day. Landing was great, quiet LZ cleared the open ground then cautiously entered the jungle. Yes, Cautiously is a move. 2 turn. Kinsey gets bitten by a snake, I took extra Meds a long which turned into a good thing. 3 turn, NVA patrol hard on our heels, Pham wounded. I had rolled a Heal number and used that to heal Kinsey, it was at this point Pham was hit. Decrease water supply by 1 before starting what would have been day 2. This is going to be fun.

WOW!!! That looks awesome! I agree with you…they really upgraded their maps big time, since beginning down these book games path; the artwork is much much nicer and more realistic. I think they’ve figured out that counters are what gamers desire…I’d heard a lot of people say they stayed away from the early games due to having to annotate pencil mark ticks and erase. The action cards seem a lot more intense and dense, with more “mechanics”…that has to be good for more in-depth play. Action got heavy right away, which is always cool. It reminds me a lot more of what I was trying to achieve with The Legion in miniatures. I like that this game has counters!!! Thanks for sharing this!!! I’m gonna try to not buy it

This is Ghosts of the Jungle on steroids! As you noticed more choices more action. My LRRPS got three hexes in and all hell broke loose. One VC and one NVA unit boxed me in as I tried to get to the bridge to cross the river, I probably should have taking the risk of swimming the river.

That's quite on par with the shit that went down in Laos n' Cambodia. I've read a lot about MAC-V-SOG and their actions in the shitshow and they're hunted almost from the get go when they put the first boot down from their helicopters. Saigon leaked worse than a sill with one BIG hole instead of all the small ones and yet MAC-V-SOG managed to keep the information leaks down by pretty much running their show by themselfs and did some incredible work in spite of their 100+ % loss rate.
