Actually, I’d mentioned aloud to my wife at the start of the Summer that we were both pretty much screwed this year… her mom went downhill physically, badly, and she needed to go to rehab…which was at a nursing home, and ended up she is now there permanently. She’s just too far above the level of care we can provide any longer, as much as that pains us. It was all consuming over the past several months, in moving and settling in, as well as administrative and legal matters that are truly mind boggling and exhaustive. The cost is through the roof, as well… twelve grand a month rent is whittling down her assets quicker than a slurpy to the man on a desert island. The 3 hour trips several times a week to her new location, week after week has been draining on us, and my car. There were a few moments t ourselves… a nice trip to upper Boston’s shores, and drum corps show in Boston, a couple concerts, a wargaming expo… little moments to enjoy life. Honestly, between my mom in law and some health issues of our own, this has been one of the most stressful years of my life. So much was put on hold. The weather has been God awful, too… either rain, sweltering heat, or both! Just an off-weather year. It’s with a large degree of melancholy that I see the tail end of Summer here and it was petty much a bust. Hey, yeah, things could be a lot worse, so I am taking taking this all with a large grain of salt ...I’m just kinda bummed, is all. On the flip side, a lot is good, too… I got to rediscover the drum & bugle corps activity, having subscribed to an app that broadcasted live events around the country all Summer. I’m playing more games than when I worked, and have done some good modeling over the Summer. And I’m thankful for what I have, and I’m looking to a better Fall season.

The summer has been bad here. We did get about four weeks over Midsumer with sun and high temperatures but no rain what so ever from the beginning of May all the way to mid July. Thereafter thre whole weeks with heavy rain and flooding. So first a massive draught that took most of the farmers crops and then when it didn't matter anymore the rain came and washed the rest away...

So first a massive draught that took most of the farmers crops and then when it didn't matter anymore the rain came and washed the rest away... The weather is indeed, wreaking havoc all over the world, I fear. Here in the US, in my neck of the woods on the northeast coast, the weather destroyed several crops from excessive rain…last year was drought. The one crop that I miss the most is peaches…we lucked out and found some at a local farmers market that came from New Jersey, of all places…they’re good, but not the quality you get from the southern States, like Georgia, who are known for top rate peaches. Luckily, in this area, sweet Summer corn is as good as ever, and I’d put our corn up against anyplace in the country for taste.

The world is turning, each turn around the sun is one year closer to reset! The worlds sixt mass extinction gets closer day by day!
It has never been more appropriate to quote the third verse from one of my all time favourite songs, Time - Pink Floyd
"And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking Racing around to come up behind you again The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older Shorter of breath and one day closer to death"

Although a dry summer it was a typical Northern Wisconsin summer weather wise. Was hoping my nephew and his family were going to be back this summer but he got a hell of a chance to work at Stanford hospital in California so now will not be back until January.

Bummer on the nephew and family… gotta go where the work is, especially when it pays great. Is he a gamer? I’ve a lot of family in Wisconsin now, these days… note just moved there in the past year. It’s kinda crazy how it worked out but, I have more family in that State now, than anywhere else excepting Canada (…still the most up there). Wisconsin is a gorgeous State, and the amount of festivals you all have up there are mind boggling! They all love in and around Milwaukee. It’s been a long minute since I’ve been up there and really need to get back there soon. I’d like to go this Fall and catch a Packers game. Depending on finances and plans next summer, I was hoping to get out there for some drum & bugle corps shows before heading to Indianapolis for the championships week. I’ve nit been to the Dells yet, either, and I’m told thats a must.
