That works quite well. I think sometimes if the eye has something to roam over, the brain fills in the rest. I quite agree with both of those statements! On the latter, you were the first person to point out this belief to me, in terms of model building…I of course knew the concept in producing fine art and illustrations, but I remember when you’d mentioned it on I believe it was my Gun Portee build, that I had that “ahhhhh yes, applies here too”, moment. That was a key Golden Nugget for me; another was, place a pop of color somewhere unexpected to enhance the old adrenaline flow! Still working on it, just started weathering. Damnit, Mike… that’s gorgeous!!! I swear, you are the Roadwheels King! …and the paintwork under the area below the return rollers is perfect. The overall camo work is fantastic… it’s a deceivingly hard pattern to capture right. I always like how clean your build process is during the construction phase, but then paint goes on and ZOWEEEEE! Great work on this build, my friend!

…that bucket looks amazing! …only modelers and artist get excited about such things Planning to dirty up and/or rust the bottom of the bucket at all? You told me your method for the exhaust weathering, but can yiu remind me again (…was it baking soda and CA???)? …I need to try that.

Yes the galvanized bucket really looks the part. But don't forget to paint the Bosch convoy light on the left fender!

The buckets were galvanized and would not rust so that's as far as I'm taking it. For the flaky rust effect I coat the exhaust in liquid cement and sprinkle on the baking soda and blow off the excess. Don't worry if you do not get complete coverage with the baking soda, I think it looks better with a few bare spots.

Ah yes (he said, embarrassed)…galvanized! …I kinda missed that little fact I definitely have to try that baking soda trick…looks awesome! Did exhausts high heat often flake the paint like that?

Yes, high heat would be a contributing factor.
