Picked this up off Amazon, it just popped up as a recommendation. Game is by Brian Train. This is the first version and comes in this nifty tin which is pretty cool on its own. As you can see it's a mini game so map is smaller footprint at 11x17 once unfolded. Game comes with a fair share of charts, setup, reinforcements, TEC etc.

A couple counter sheets, unusual in the individual counters have perforations for separations. I'm thinking it will be best to cut them out. The map.

This tin version is the original 2004 edition, it was also then rereleased in a standard box version. In 2018 or somewhere around that time it was upgraded with better counters larger map by Tiny Battle Publishing and re-named Winter Thunder.
Although released as a 2 player game it is a chit draw game to activate different HQ's it has a rather unique double blind chit draw system for combat that was easily played solo by the attacking side picking it's type of combat desired then by just drawing the defenders chit blind. From what I have read that worked pretty good but the designer has since made a simple chart to use for the defending side. So even though "Another Bulge Game" I am looking forward to getting this one on the table.

Combat table I mentioned, attacker actions run across the top, defender down the side. Small rulebook is 14 pages including optional rules, credits etc. Pretty standard game except for the combat part of it.

Things I forgot to mention. Units are 3 step divisions for the most part. With each unit having 3 seperate counters, this was done for two player games to use for fog of war, the reverse sides just have a color relating to which side is which, Allies have a green dot and Germans a grey dot. As strictly a solo player I may try glueing the first and second steps back to back as like a standard counter that would cut by a third how many counters I have to keep track of. The counters are pretty thin so could use a bit of thickening anyway. Another mechanics that should play well solo is variable weather for air support, only the Allies have air support. Conditions for air are Cloudy=no air, Misty=2 air support markers and Clear=4 air support.

Picture taken off lap top screen of the solitaire chart. Pretty simple, this chart is used by the side on defense. First roll one D10 for defensive posture then second 1D10 for the actual defense used.

Thinking on the defensive posture chart I may forgo the first roll for posture and just pick what I think would be the best defensive attitude to take, then roll in that posture for the Defenders Mission. That way I pick what I think is the proper defense but the roll may not turn out the way I hope. I think that would add even more of a bit of "fog of war" to the situation. Kind of like yes I picked the right posture to be in it just didn't go according to plan. Because as we all the know "the plan" is the first thing that goes out the window in battle. I'm really starting to like this idea.

I would definitely cut the counters and the gluing counters into two step units to reduce counter count. I’m curious to see this played!!! ..I love me my Bulge games!

It's already got me thinking of picking up Winter Thunder also. Should clear up that where I said above Winter Thunder came out around 2018 I think 2015 is closer to the mark. And I agree on the maps.

I did look for the Autumn Mist tin game, but it’s no longer available, so good snag on that!

Counters are all cut out and ready to set up the game, hopefully this evening. The game even came with two dice. Not the biggest set of dice out there but still pretty nice.

I still find those teenie little Avalon Hill dice that have snuck out of their box’s now and then …those are real nice looking, though! So did you do the 2-step gluing thing?

Glueing went like a charm, used the cardboard from a cereal box for the one-step units and information counters.
