While at a recent edition of the Compass Games Expo, I played an absolutely fantastic game, called “Plains Indian Wars”, by GMT games The only problem, and it was a BIG problem was, I couldn’t differentiate between the green and brown dice… …the green and brown dice above look the exact same to my eyes! You see. I’m partially color blind, and have a real hard time with greens and browns in some games…not all of them, as it depends on the hues used, but I frost noticed it in gaming back with the board game, Axis & Allies. In this game, the little wooden blocks were a tad better, and if o concentrated real hard, I could just barley make out a slight difference, but they still blended uncomfortably, to the point that I didn’t know who were the Settlers and who were a faction of Indians. I really want to buy and play 5is game so, I immediately started strategizing of how to “fix” this game. The wood cubes are easy… placing a small dot with a black Sharpie marker on the wood cube faces of one color of blocks will easily identify them for me… The dice? That was more tricky. Stickers will fall off. Engraving is near impossible on acrylic dice without a laser. But then I thought, what if I paint the engraved symbols on the side a different color? But how? Searching online, I found this great tutorial! Made by Marvy, these Decocolor paint pens should be just the trick! The manufacturer advertises… I ordered a Metalic Gold on Amazon to test on a spare die to see how well this works! Stay tuned.
