I meant to do this last month, on the actual Forums’ 1-Year Anniversary, but better late than never! We”re now at 1-year/1-month and change; 450 threads with 2379 posts (pre-this thread); 24 Members.
For a forum in the era of social media, that’s not bad! In fact, we’re a thriving example within a dying breed…I know that sounds bad but, we’re actually defying the odds. The bot hits are higher, meaning, we are appearing on more peoples’ searches. We even had 51 people online a week ago. We average about 375 page views a day, and this month alone, we had 11,500 page views in total. While gaining two new members. That’s nit bad analytics, folks!
Many here were part of my other forums, and many were disappointed to see the last version of this forum go defunct. I have to admit that, while I don’t miss the headache associated with maintenance of the old forum, I do sometimes regret the loss of all those amazing threads! But we rebuilt in this forum, the bones of the old forum and have done ourselves proud. Thank you for that. Whereas I was hesitant to start a new forum, I’m glad we all made the effort… it’s paid off.
Yeah, we’re small… but great things often come in small packages!
I encourage you to seek out new members… that can be done as simply as reaching out to fellow members on other forums and inviting them over… you’re not “stealing” people over; people on other forums often like to have more options, and most importantly, “pay it forward” in their knowledge and skills (don’t underestimate that, and indeed, point out your desire for them to do so because you do, in fact admire their skills). And Facebook (God, I hate that place!) is a prime locale for recruiting new members, as well…maybe even better!
…please make an effort to recruit new members, and make sure they feel not only welcome, but encouraged to post threads and posts.
We should all be proud of what we’ve done here. I hope you find it as fun as the other forums were, and we will continue to grow.
Thank you for being Members and Staff!
