A spure of the moment build. I was quite busy with buildin' three other Matchbox birds when I suddenly felt why three when I can do four. So I started this one as well. The maskin' was quite tedious along the way n' there was also some problems along the way. The first major setback was the old tin of Humbrol #117, it took roughly THREE weeks to cure so everything with this build stoped as I waited for it to cure. The tin got a one way ticket to the eternal archive. The next n' last setback was when I unmasked it n' saw that I'd failed with the maskin' so I had to correct some errors as can be seen in the photos. Other than that it really was a fun build...

WOW, what a honey of a bird! Makes me want to build one. Excellent persistence working through those errors… it paid off. I love the shape of this aircraft. And I like seeing all the Matchbox kits together like that!

I’ve not use Humbrol but, I think I might have a few pots of the stuff, bought before I stopped building several years back at a hobby store no longer around. I’ll have to check now, lol!

Thanks mate! Humbrol enamels is more or less yesterdays paints. Besides the quality of the modern ones was low compared to the ones produced in the seventies/eighties. That is to say before Humbrol had to recall all the paints (at least in Europe) a year ago as they didn't comply with some new EU regulations. I don't know if they've managed to bring out a new formula for their enamels yet or not. If you want good quality enamels you should get Tammy enamel paints instead (the square glass bottles).

I’ve not used enamels since the mid 1970’s, which was about all you could get in the toy stores that sold models and supplies. It’s amazing how far the hobby has come! I’m extremely comfortable and happy with acrylics, but I understand enamels can do things in a different outcome.
