I came across a build that the modeler (losboz, at MSC) created a canvas tilt cover for the back of a Mittlerer Zugkraftwagen 8T (Sd.Kfz.7) Holzpritsche, with paper, but I was pleasantly shocked and awed at how gorgeous it came out! I’ve created flags and tarps for models and miniatures, but I dare say not as well as this came out!!!
Well first of all, I had never heard of a “tilt cover”! Apparently, it is an awning or canopy. Who knew? (…I didn’t!).
Second, what was this stiff he used to create this nifty bed cover? Paper Shaper, from VMS Supplies is a great alternative to classic adhesives when it comes to working with paper. It will allow you to instantly soak and precisely shape paper and similar materials without the danger of tearing them. Being reversible, VMS Paper Shaper also allows you to create detachable objects which can make painting easier! Make canvas covers, tarps, masking nets even capes and flags in the wind! Product is fully reversible with VMS Clean Slate. IMPORTANT: The acrylic product is susceptible to low temperatures and mustn't be frozen! Store and handle in room temperature.

Losboz says that..
I’m sold on this product! I’ve just used a mixture or white glue (Elmer’s) an water to mix up my concoction, but this sounds like a professionals tool! See this as useful for both model making and wargaming dioramas!

…they sell all sorts of modelling goodies. Their Varnishes are also extremely effective. A couple of things worth mentioning are: It will tear if manipulated too much when wet. Overspill can be cleaned with VMS 'Clean slate' and always, always use it before adding any paint. On this model I used it over the kit moulding to improve the canvas detail and added the rear flaps to overhang loose.
