Calling it done. Kit is UniModel out of Ukraine and I believe is actually an old Schiff (sp?) Kit. Base is a 4x4 inch wooden square that you could get at Dollar Store for a pack of 4. Kit is not secured to base in anyway as I use the base for other 1/72 models. This kit was a real challenge but I'm very happy to have seen it through.

Well Hot Damn, that’s gorgeous! …seriously one of the best in 1:72 I’ve seen. I’ve no real idea why, but I love the schurzen (correct term?) in this one…. I’ve never seen it.
The dio is fab, too! I’m always inspired by your ground work in minis, and models! What board type is that?

Lovely result mate! I've got a fair share of UM kits in my stash and thy're not kits for beginners but you can turn 'em into a nice build but they're not of the shake n' bake variant.
Yes Em, the correct name for the add on amour is Thoma schurzen...

I have built UM's Flame Thrower Hetzer in the now distant past so I thought I had idea of what I was getting myself into, although the Hetzer was no walk in the park either. I have to admit to feeling a bit of pride getting this one done though, more then once I set it aside.

But a good challenge from time to time keeps you on your toes...

But a good challenge from time to time keeps you on your toes... I was thinking that also, this one sure helped with my problem solving skills. I sure surprised myself by making the turret schurzen support braces, of the six supports that came etched on the schurzen 4 broke off as I was bending them into shape on the jig supplied in the kit. So I thought as long as I have the jig that at least shows me the bends and length needed to at least get the top braces in place I would give it a shot. It worked better then I could have imagined. Also good thing I kept the left over p/e parts frames from previous builds.

It’s a wonderful thing when a plan comes together, at the A-Team leader used to say! Seriously, it’s great to push the envelope and succeed… and even those time when it doesn’t, the knowledge that you gave it your best shot (a lesson I’ve been learning with my P-5D!)
