I’ve seen something similar while at Hobby Lobby one day, and seen them used one in Finescale Modeler magazine, but that units’ alligator clips were the traditional type with the metal teeth…that can damage the kit part surface easily, if not covered. However, I ran across this one on Amazon today! …having the jaws of the clips covered look the perfect solution to me! Not sure how it stacks up against the Hobby Lobby version, but at $10, how can you go wrong? I might pick one up myself when I get an opportunity! The only downside is, the sticks don’t bend.

I have several different brands of these, the problem I find is that the sticks are too long and I have to cut them down so they will fit in my spray booth. I like the ones that don't have any teeth. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BC5R7HZQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1Another thing you can do, is buy the sticks, then get a small box, fill it with corrugated cardboard turned on edge. This is a premade version, but its really easy to DIY.
