I work from home and spend the majority of my day in my office. I have an area set aside for modeling. Due to the limited space I've had to be very judicious in how I utilize the space I have. I am also a believer in the theory of "First Order Retrievability" which means you should never have to move something to get to your primary tools. I set my bench up to be modular. By using small moveable tool holders, I can eaisely reconfigure my work area to support different modeling activities. For example, I have the following configurations: Building Photo Etch Work Painting Soldering Decaling etc... Here it is in building mode And here with everything stowed away in it's place A bit broader view I tweak it constantly. I am a big fan of the Dspiae Spherical Vise. This thing is an awesome way to hold your work. You can use it with small stuff like this Jack I'm enhancing for my Panther G build Or you can hold entire models in it while you work on them. Checkout this video I made of it. Dispiae Vice in Action

WOW, that’s gorgeous!!! I always love seeing folks! Work benches… I dissect every inch! It’s such personal space, really…I liken it to a woman’s elaborate makeup station, haha! So a few things… - Where did you get the vertical storage units all those sanding septic is are in?
- I recognize the strange shelving system, but the dividers between the shelves that look to be about 5” apart… what are those? Do they come with the system? (…looks like what yiu get at the box stores, like Closet Maid).
- Where did you get that gorgeous circular LED lamp (looks white)
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! Do believe I’m gonna pick up the sanding sticks storage units. on that other question, the shelf above the stacked sanding sticks and 3-drawer unit that has your Tamiya pots… the long width shelf that has little separator walls… in never saw dividers like that and was wondering if they came from whoever makes that shelving system (shelves held up by brackets that slot into vertical movable slot rods.

Ah, I made those shelves myself, no system involved.

I’ve seen some folks use those as weights for parts that have been glued. What are some examples that yiu use them for?

I’ve seen some folks use those as weights for parts that have been glued. What are some examples that yiu use them for? Lots of uses: Using the weight to hold things down Using them to make sure road wheels are aligned correctly Using the flatness for gluing things that need to be at an exact 90 degree angle Very handy for elevating a piece off the bench so it can hang over and down the side of the block. Letting a piece stick slightly over the edge so you can sand it. The 123 blocks with the holes are great for drilling things You can roll a bent piece of wire between them and get it back to straight

WOW! A great hobby space. We live in a small house so my hobby area is a corner of the kitchen counter with a cupboard for storage. It has it`s compensations though, I have a stool that backs onto a radiator so I am nice and warm during the winter, and I am right next to that essential hobby aid, the kettle.
Luckily I am much more of a gamer/painter than a modeler.
