A friend of mine served as a medic on a number of Tribal Class destroyers. So I am building him a 1/350 scale HMCS Haida G63 This was nicknamed the 'fightingest ship in the Canadian Navy' and is now a museum in Hamilton, Ontario. It even has one submarine and 2.5 trains to its credit. The problem is that the closes thing I can find is an HMS Eskimo. I have decided to do a conversion. The first parts to arive are these twin Orlikon guns on power mounts. I had to order them from the UK.

I just got notification that the 1/350 Eskimo was shipped from China. No word on the PE or Resin yet. I anxiously await.

The Eskimo looks gorgeous! That’ll be a great build… I can’t wait to see you putting this together! I’m curious to see what techniques you use. That PE sheet looks intimidating!!! …I’ve never worked with the stuff.

As a Sea Cadet in the early 1970s I spent a lot of weekends on the Haida when it was moored at Ontario Place. Most of the "training" was spent scrapping and repainting which in reality is the bulk of a sailor's life anyway. I did get to be on the gun crew a few times though and firing the A turret gun at noon was fun!
I have the Eskimo kit in my stash to tackle this same conversion someday.
