Hey, y'all. Hope you're doing well. Want to let you know that a company called Killwager just released a free set of modern/sci-fi squad-based gaming rules called Skullcore, and they look...interesting. Like nothing I've seen before (and I've seen some crazy s***!). I've been watching their videos, and I'm excited to try this. It's not a long rule set, which I love, but there's plenty of detail. Head over to www.killwager.com/skullcore and click "GET IT NOW." You'll be able to "purchase" a free digital copy there. It's a .zip file that includes a set of cards to print, an event scoring sheet, a missions booklet, and a couple of other freebies along with the rules. I just bought the G.I. Joe deck building game, which I'm finding difficult to learn. So now I have even more to learn as this new year gets under way. That's all for now, gentlemen! As you were. Scott

WOW, I just peeked at the website and that does indeed sounds like an interesting system. Yeah, I would say the assignation mechanic is pretty unknown to me, in a miniatures war game! Reactionary systems are gaining in popularity, in my estimation… maybe it’s been around awhile but, it’s kinda new to me. A free download is pretty hard to pass up… I’m wondering if it might be a good match for some of my DUST or Stargate SG1 minis.

Gack! I don't know, guys. Killwager put out a new video today about how to use the Skullcore rules, and it seemed like a sign because I was planning to bust out some figures and give these rules a try. But trying to understand the video was, for me, like trying to understand a new language. They made these rules about as complicated as humanly possible, and I don't even know how to get started. I don't think these rules are going to be for me, not when there are so many good (and free) rules that are much easier to understand.

Maybe there’s enough there where you can upgrade or convert it to your own design
