Elevated Diorama Base

A build I came across on Masahiro Doi’s, Facebook page… an old, vintage Tamiya German 88mm Gun Flak 36/37 kit.



I love the build results of course, but the base really caught my attention. He didn’t go into how it was constructed, but having a focused attention on dioramas lately, as I intend to up my game with them, I would venture based on his showing the base plaque used…



…you could build up a shaped foam block atop, and and do the ground work; then glue thin wood veneer stripping on the side and stain/varnish it and the plaque base.







I intend to try this as a diorama base for a future work.

I still have Two 88's in my stash. Nice kits.

After a closer look I just realized these are Luftwaffe flak troops posed in a ground support role. Now that's a nice twist.
