I thought I’d start a thread on Great Workshops! I come across wonderful examples on Facebook model and miniatures groups, as well as in magazine, and I always love looking at folks’ model and miniature building workshops for those idea gems!
I’ve seen and heard tell of everything from outdoor sheds, to basement workshops, all the way to a tiny desk nook in the corner of a home… and even a couple closets! I’d long ago grown inspired by what is possible in lots of projects in incredibly small spots in the home. I’ve even seen one modeler who built models on his coffee table with his stash piled up behind the couch!
Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
Feel free to post your finds here, as well!

Let me humbly start with my workshop This is my in-home workshop, nestled in a corner of my furnace room to the side of our laundry area. It’s a super space and was a selling point in my purchase considerations. The previous owner was a woodworker so, he built the bench in there, as well as a nicer one on my backyard studio (shed). The pegboard was already there… I added the shelving. To the left of the tool chest, I setup two nail polish stands to hold my paints and associated glues. To the left of those is my compressor and airbrushing spray booth. It’s a nice setup for me and I enjoy the space. These are older pics but 95+% is still as is shown. I’ve since added another cutting mat. the spray booth has a homemade ventilation system… dryer hose hooked to the vent motor above the booth, and the other end through a block of white hard foam with a plastic dryer vent cap on the other side… the block goes in my window to the left; lift window and screen and placed in, pulling just the window down atop… works well even in the Winter for spray sessions. The spray booth is a PACE (see here), made by a retired HVAC specialist! The fan is a simple Vornado fan with the stand hung on the wall, for that little bit of extra ventilation. There’s a shelf under the bench, which is a total mess even still, but now that I’m retired, I have no more excuses in avoiding a clean out! I have a great tractor-style swivel seat for perfect height adjustment…git on sale at a high end furniture store clearance (I have another at my art desk).

Nice setup! I need to do a lot of picking up before I could show my space. I do love my little room though.

Nice setup! I need to do a lot of picking up before I could show my space. I do love my little room though. Thanks! …yeah, I get to a point where it’s a pretty clean and organized area… then, something will happen with work in the furnace room and next thing I know, there’s a crapload of stuff stacked up on my bench or back table behind my seat (not pictured above), and it’s no usually me that’s doin’ that (aaaah, hem); it’s currently a mess. Under the bench is going to be hell…it’s not been cleaned out of piled up *stuff* since we moved in! …I told myself I’d always been to busy or exhausted from work (II don’t have that excuse anymore, haha)l once I clear out ever and clean it good, I’ll repack it with labeled plastic bins and make things much easier to find projects that need some love…I have so many boxes of minis and terrain projects.

I got more paints than that and I've not thrown that much bottles in the can over the years. Less than 30 or so with the majority having been AMMO enamel Streaking effect products.

These are nicer then my room to be sure but I'm tickled pink to have my own room to call my own. Even though it's upstairs I still call it my Bunker.
