I recently came across a post on the Facebook, SOLO Wargaming with Miniatures Group, where a fellow named Josh Andrew Malbon painted up some GW Palanite soldiers to use in a Hostile Environment: Special Forces game. He was posting that he’d finally painted them in urban camo, but it was the bases that really caught my eye.

I spread on Vallejo Mud with a thin diamond palette knife. After the mud dries, dab a little bit of white glue in a couple places with a cruddy paintbrush, and then sprinkle on Army Painter Battlefield Field Grass.
It helps to break apart the grass ahead of time, then after sprinkling it on, just shake the excess off. You're done.
