Long time ago I downloaded some free paper houses and what not. So for today I took an already made house and outbuilding. These are WW2 Europe. First painted some cardboard, like you find on the back of a legal pad. I used cheap acrylic and put it on thin and quick so as not to warp. Then with white glue/PVA I placed the buildings and paint pathways.

I had a piece of Chenille so started to make a hedge. Big box stores and most craft stores should carry it, they are alot like pipe cleaners and come in different colors.

Back to the front. The groundwork is shredded foam, also used clump foliage and woodland scenics.

Some flowers under the windows and as the artist Bob Ross would say "a happy little tree in the corner." And that's it 🤪 Took me longer to make this thread than it did this house. I like it anyway.

Butted together with a previously made church, the church is based on plastic card. Should you take this route it is easy to do, it really is. One thing I want to pass along is do not worry about gaps between building and base you just use the groundwork to cover it up. The outbuilding where the little bush is up against the right corner is doing just that. As are the bushes on each side of the back entrance.

Digging through my paper buildings I came across these two sheets. The one on the left are the buildings in all their glory, the sheet on the right are the same buildings but flattened by war.

WOW, what an awesome thread! I remember you talking about these some time ago; and then, when I started in N-scale model railroading, I started to see the benefit of these and similar, so I am taking note of this thread closely. I love what adding a simple tree to a plot of land with the house brings tons of realism! …not to dissuade from the quality of the paper buildings though, ‘cause they are really magnificent.
I really like the idea of materials uses to support them, too… particularly the chenille, which I’ll definitely have to look into! The shredded foam is brilliant and makes me now take note of foam I’ll run across before tossing in the trash! Remember MAGNA’s fake “society” of folks that use recycled home trash for use in modeling? …”CAPS”. Damned if he didn’t catch my gullible ass with that one!!!

I like the tree too, also the groundwork has settled down a bit after the glue fully dried. For paper buildings they hold up very well, but I cut out the building I want first and glue it to cheap paper plate for added strength.

Just kidding, this is really beautiful work. I've been into tiny stuff like this lately, and I'm just extremely impressed. Thanks for sharing!
