After playing a few games of Across the Narva I knew I had to pick this one up. Konigsberg uses the same chit pull system as Narva and is excellent for solo play. Konigsberg, like Across the Narva was initially put out by Three Crown Games from Sweden. Picked up by Revolution Games and polished up by Roger Miller. The title is a bit misleading as the battle for Konigsberg proper is outside the time frame of this game happening later on by around a month. Quality of components is excellent with half inch counters that are easy to read and color coded to keep track of which units belong to which HQ's. These to me are better then the Narva counters as colors of counters between opposing armies is much easier to keep track of.The map also appears easier to read or I have just become accustomed to the smaller lines used as roads and RR's.

I love a short rulebook! Actually, the whole game looks awesome. I agree in the counters being easier to differentiate between, than Narva… and I love the use of NATO markings, and wonderfully big action factors. How big is the map?

Map is 22x34, same as Across the Narva. That’s a really nice map size. I’m glad to see manufacturers going with smaller maps to save money.

Map size is important to me as I only have so much table space, as with many other folks. 22x34 is a nice size. What's the biggest map you have played on? I own the original World At War 85 Vol. 1. Storming the Gap, Fulda Gap game map, which is really the mapboards for the expansion module in one… 38.5” x 53” Its on a high quality canvas material. I’m about to pledge on the new expansion “Blood & Fury” on Gamefound, which has an expansion module to it called “Operation Red Gauntlet”, which has a monster map as an add-on, but it costs more than the game! It’s 38.5” x 58.0.” …I’m trying to musty the buy currently! On a similar note, I saw a “Raid on St. Nazaire” and a “Bitter Woods” monster map each, online and would kill for those!

That's a good size map! But on a canvas material, that sounds nice. I bet it lies nicely on the table? I have some maps from the Berlin War Academy from the 1920's and they are mounted on canvas and they lay out nicely. Have you the room to set it up and leave it up? I know some folks hang them on metal sheets and their counters are held in place by little magnetic clips. Not sure I would care for that.

I know some folks hang them on metal sheets and their counters are held in place by little magnetic clips. Not sure I would care for that. It does lay wonderfully! The bonus of canvas, versus felt, in that it also stays put… felt tends to bind and create waves as you lean over it. I can set it up on my kitchen table, but can’t leave it unattended because of my two cats When my backyard studio shed is mouse-proofed (as much as you can mouse-proof a shed, anyway), I might use it out there, but I wouldn’t dare leave it unattended for too many nights Those maps you have sound intriguing! Where’d you get them from? I’m not a fan of magnets on a counters wargame… I can’t imagine grabbing those counters to move around, let alone stacking. But as far as these maps serving as art, I can see that — I’m a cartographic buff so, hanging maps is a definite appeal to me; and I see many folks hanging boardgame boards as art, and see the appeal of that as well. As an update… I did buy the map for the new “Red Gauntlet” expansion for the next chapter game in the World at War ‘85 series, “Blood & Fury”, that just concluded its campaign on KickStarter a couple weeks back. I really debated, since it’s so expensive, but I felt I’d regret not getting it, later.
