With so many companies and establishments going under, due to the pandemic I’ve wondered on our wargaming hobby. I’ve been paying attention and, it doesn’t seem the pandemic has killed any game companies that I can tell. It certainly slowed most of it to a snail’s pace for some, with being able to get new games out, but there are still games coming out. I’m wondering what you’ve observed?

If anything the pandemic was a boon for the gaming industry! With nowhere to go and people locked down board game sales soared. I don't see why our little niche in the market would be any different. Good time to be a board gamer.

Good time to be a board gamer. That’s a great point on people playing games more, especially when we were all in lockdown for so long, and even still with people staying closer to home. I would also think that people are vacationing in-country more too, like at camps and cottages, so there’s likely more family gaming going on, too. |

During the lockdown, here in Italy, shops Who sell books can continue their business.
My preferred game shop, thanks to RPG books, was one of the few open shops and sold more games than pre-Covid times !
About pandemic effects on games: almost all the new project have solitarie rules.
