I’d looked for a quality, wooden dice tower & tray combo for awhile, and though I found some very nice ones, they were so expensive. Derek Ritter of Ritterkrieg makes some awesome ones, which are very close to what I’d found to be the Gold Standard Pleva towers, but both are near impossible to get die to low production of these handcrafted gems. That was when I found this gorgeous tower & tray, made from the Souza Custom Woodworks studio, handcrafted in Tennessee, from solid Honey Locust, chosen for it’s exquisite grain patterns and warm color. Here she is in action… Cost me about $75 back in 2017, on Amazon. I looked and they seem to be selling on Etsy, these days, for about the same cost. The tower and tray are finished with 7 coats of durable, oil-based polyurethane that has been sanded multiple times to provide a smooth, lustrous finish. Tower is constructed of 1/2-inch solid honey locust, 4-inches square and 10-inches tall, and has 3 internal felt-covered baffles (most towers only have two, which results in the dice flying out too fast, IMHO), and a felt-covered exit ramp. To my way of appreciation in construction detail and design, this tower is majestic in size, and being made of solid wood is not only stable and durable, but elegant. The dice tray has mitered honey locust sides and is lined with felt. The bottom of the tray has an additional felt covering to reduce the potential of damaging table top surfaces. Each tower made is unique in its own way and is more than just a functional gaming accessory. This tower and tray will serve my gaming needs and be treasured for years as an heirloom gaming accessory.
