Army Painter: Target Lock Laser Line Product # AMYTL5046I bought mine from Miniature Market for about $10. Works awesome! Hold, pointed down towards the mapboard and you get a laser line; the closer to the board, the shorter the line… pull back and the line gets a bit longer. I’ve been able to get Line of Sight lines between even the farthest hexes distant. This nifty little tool also works very well for miniatures games on boards or dioramas. It’s different from the laser pointers you see at presentation meetings at work, that places a dot where you point the beam to point to presentation material. This style will allow a perfect LOS line. Obviously, a thicker line than sewing thread, but I think it’s quite viable… though I am sure you will run into a gamer that will bitch about it. The button must be kept pressed down for the beam, which I like more than some of the construction tool type laser line tools that stay on. These beams are dangerous to you eyes, so they should be used by responsible adults.

I can see where that would work much better then the one in my toolbox. Does the line get even thicker as you move it farther away from the map or does it stay the same thickness? I would assume the same? I would have no problem using this. I can see if the problem for a real dyed in the wool rules lawyer though. Just have to decide before you start the game is all.

As you move away, the beam line thins a tad but not much… definitely doesn’t get thicker. One thing I noted on this one is, it has a slight ball on either end, but again, not much. I like this particular laser line gizmo much better than the one you get for power saws at Harbor Freight… …I bought one after seeing a buddy gamer at Compass Games Expo use it a few years back, which he picked up at Harbor Freight and showed up for a game next morning with it. It is about five bucks… it has a plastic barrel and magnet stand. The benefit it has a clicker that keeps the beam on, and you can stand it up at the corner of the table for quicker grab… but the battery died awhile ago and the replacements were hard to get; I got the wrong one and one jammed in the barrel, so I had to throw it away.
