We're three months into 2022, and I haven't heard much metal yet this year that got me really excited. We were well into February before I heard anything I really liked. Here are three new albums I do enjoy. Farseer: Crowned by the HammerThis Scottish power metal band played from 2007 until this past January. They split up right before they released this album in February. This is their second full-length album and the only one I've listened to. Merciless Law: Troops of SteelThis is a Chilean band, although I can't tell if it has more than one member. This is their first album, and it came out earlier this month (March). It has a real eighties vibe to it, which I love. Cloven Hoof: Time AssassinThis was released in the past week, and I just listened to it today. I've liked Cloven Hoof for a while. They're an English band that got started in 1979 and never looked back. They were part of the "new wave of British heavy metal" along with Iron Maiden and many other bands. They had three full-length albums in the eighties. As of this week, they've had six more albums since 2006. I liked this latest album, especially the first half. It started to drag toward the end.

Great cover art! How do you collect your music… albums, download purchase, streaming? I’m old school and still love my albums and CDs but haven’t bought either in years…I mostly listen to what I have or stream. What is it about metal that drives your gears?

Great cover art! How do you collect your music… albums, download purchase, streaming? I’m old school and still love my albums and CDs but haven’t bought either in years…I mostly listen to what I have or stream. What is it about metal that drives your gears? ...buy...music? Kidding, same here, I don't buy music anymore. There's no need. I stream it all. I didn't get into rock until after high school, and I didn't get into metal until I had kids! So I'm still kind of new to it. Hard to say why I like it so much now. Part of it is nostalgia for the sounds I heard around me when I was a teenager. I wasn't interested in it then, but I got curious about it eventually, and now I love it. When it comes to new metal, I'm often looking for songs that give me similar feelings as the classic stuff.
