This is a game Frizzenspark (Derek) got me into, after seeing what he was collecting. I had started with Gale Force 9’s TANKS miniatures systems, including the modern era, and this seemed a good extension for the 15mm miniatures I was collecting for that. I had also gotten into Flames of War, and the Team Yankee system is similar to that in having a bunch of rulebooks and accessories. I like when there is symmetry like that!
By Battlefront Miniatures LTD., this is an advanced system with a large learning curve
Team Yankee is a tabletop miniatures wargame that is set in a fictional World War III in 1985 based on the novel of the same name by Harold Coyle.
The game is a standard two player miniature wargame with each player taking command of a company or battalion level force consisting of hand painted miniatures. The game provides one 6 different missions for the purpose of pickup games. There are also several scenarios in the book that allow the players to recreate some of the battles from the Team Yankee novel.
The game has an accompanying line of 15mm scale miniatures to use but it can be played with models from any manufacture.
The Game releases with 4 army lists that players may choose from, A United States tank Company, A United states Mechanized Infantry company, A Soviet Tank Battalion, and a Soviet Mechanized Infantry Battalion

The unit cards are quite detailed, and much like the new 4th edition Flames of War system. And much like the TANKS line, these are also miniature models, pieces on sprue that need to be assembled/glued together and painted.
I’ve bought several miniatures from this line of minis, both starter sets and individual units, including helicopters. And I have many of the books. I’ve not bought any product in well over a year or two, so I don’t know how current the manufacturer is with this system… hopefully they haven’t dumped it. There had been quite a bit of competitive play at conventions pre-pandemic… I’ll be checking into who’s still playing this as I assemble my forces!
