I've had several board games on my Elfster.com wish list for years, so long that I finally made peace with the fact that no one is ever going to buy me one. But then it suddenly happened! My birthday was weeks ago, but my in-laws came up for my daughter's softball tournament this weekend and surprised me with a game I had added recently. It's Congo Merc from Decision Games! It's my first game from that company. It's a solitaire board game and part of their Commando mini-game series. This one is set in 1964. I look forward to getting this on the table soon! I had other gaming plans for this spring, but this can't wait.

Last time I ordered a minigame it was a toss up between Congo Merc and Merrill's Marauders, I went with MM because someone somewhere said CM was a bit to easy at times. We will have to compare notes after you play a couple games. Congo Merc is still on my to get list along with Lawrence of Arabia. For the price they are good games and CM sounds like it is right in your wheelhouse from what I know of your gaming preferences. Enjoy!

I can always tweak the rules if needed. These components are so nice, there's got to be a great game in there that's worth playing!

I'm sure there is a great game in there for you. If the rules seem a little confusing there is not much that hasn't been hashed out at BGG. I would be happy to help also. I wish they would come out with some more of these lite solitaire games.

Decision Games are awesome! The owner(s) are extremely cerebral in their research and you can bank on mechanics that are more realistic than many other designer/owners. I own several of FG’s titles, but I can’t say I’ve played one of their lite solitaire games (oddly enough for me, considering a solo hound!). I remember Mike mentioning Merrill's Marauders (a favorite subject of mine), which I’m curious to see more of, but I also have to admit this has my full attention, too! I love the premise, and it’s a gorgeous looking game! I, glad you finally got your hands on one of your wish list items! …that always feels awesome!

I keep remembering that you told me Conco Merc can be too easy. So far I've found it very difficult. The video that Decision Games put on YouTube to explain this game went through a sample game, and in that video the game was won quickly and easily. But that hasn't been my experience at all. I'm having trouble getting anything going with this game. The Simbas are everywhere, and they're fierce!

I'm having trouble getting anything going with this game. The Simbas are everywhere, and they're fierce! I gotta be honest in saying, I have terrible experiences with reviews, be it gamers on games, of customers on clothes, or what have you… many time s you hear the glass is empty as much as you hear it’s full! I’ve come to feel it’s because everyone has different tastes and skills, and what they think is easy is hard for someone else. Take Advanced Squad Leader Starter Kit 1, Infantry… ASLers will say it’s fantastically simple. I disagree… or, I’m an idiot… could go either way on that one. When I went to my first ASL tournament, the ad for it said that any level could enjoy the game and is accessible. Bullshit in toast, with Hollendaze sauce! I made it through one scenario of full-system (barely, and tragically) and ran for the hills! Yet, they advertise that anyone can play… BS on HS. But to digress, I’ve seen some Starter Kit players take to the system quickly, and to them it’s easy: and other like me, scratch our heads and try to convince ourselves that we hadn’t suffered an unknown brain injury that we don’t remember. What I’m long-windedly saying is, I read reviews, but I will more often than nit consider that they aren’t 100% accurate (…I’ll assume 20% ) …but that’s just my opinion
