From a Facebook member in the Old West Miniatures & Gaming Group, Samuel Jones made this incredible Saaloon mostly from balsa wood for the walls and floors. Other materials included wooden coffee stirrers for all the outside walls, cardstock roof, foam board insulation for some of the scatter pieces inside. Finish was done with acrylic paint and alot if dry brushing, including a few homemade acrylic washes for weathering; static grass and moss for the landscaping.
The pulled cotton for the chimney smoke is an awesome touch! Phenomenal work on the shingles… gives that rough hewned look of the period. I love the elevated porch…perfect for street shootouts and ambushes! Lot of great LOS blocks too, like the front corner of the side boardwalk around the saloon. The landscape is wonderfully done, too…you can tell the builder has some serious modeling and diorama building skill.
The roof is removable, to expose playable interiors complete with beds, bar, and other cool furniture and fixtures. Upstairs…
Downstairs…
I Love the poker tables!!! The rough stairs leading to the second floor is great. One of my favorite attention to detail features is the stone fireplace with chimney sections that run up through the second floor and room…that was well thought out! What magnificent detail! Overall, a wonderful and workable miniatures gaming structure!

Fantastic attention to detail. Now to check out the fb page you mentioned. It’s a cool group, with tons of ideas for diagrams pieces and western gaming. I really don’t like Facebook, but the groups are worth the hassle of seeing all the negativity on there.

Excellent! …and absolutely, on regardless of time period…those Wild West building would be every bit usable in an off planet sci-fi setting, or South American drug complex.
