I just picked this one up last week, as a Print ‘n Play from WargamerVault for $7.50 (regularly $14) …I’ll be building my own PnP game on this one, which may very well be the first full, big game I’ve ever assembled. The boxed game is sold by Tiny Battle Publishing for $55.
Summer 1989: The Iron Curtain is not coming down. Tensions are high. Will war return to Europe?.... Blackhorse is a grand tactical game of furious mechanized command in the summer of 1989. Units are companies and platoons... Hexes are 1000 meters across. Turns are three hours each, using an innovative system emphasizing friction and the importance of command and control. Blackhorse puts the player in the shoes of the commanding generals of the Soviet 79th Guards Tank Division and an array of U.S. units drawn from the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment and the 3rd Armored Division. The Cold War has become damn hot. Will you be up to the task of winning this small piece of it?

It just looked so damned cool to me that the first time I saw it a short time ago, I felt I wanted it and was a good fit, but the boxed game proce was a bit steep for what it is, cross referenced against my purchasing consideration scale of “MEH — I Must Have This”. But as a PnP, I figured it’d be a nice project to build, and play would determine whether I am happy at status quo with it or perhaps invest in the boxed game later. I have a separate thread here, in the War College, here in the Components & Techniques zone.
The map and counters are very cool
I’m looking forward to playing this one! It’s on the docket as soon as I have it built!
