Academy. Something not quite right when putting road wheels in place, I needed to scrape down every axle to get them to sit right. Hmmm, will see what happens with the tracks, link and length. Each road wheel is three pieces, two sides and the rim. They fit together well, I just can't figure out what went wrong.

Left side tracks went on nicely. No trouble with fit or how they sag. Now hopefully this evening the right side goes as well.

Looking great! It always amazes me some of the detail provided inside a model that may never be seen again, lol…or perhaps those rods and such instide are for something critical outside?
I hear ‘ya on roadwheels… satisfying when finally finished, as it’s an accomplishment for sure, but what a pain in the ass! Undeniable “coolness” factor, though.

I'm not sure if there is an interior version of this kit or not but the rods are the torsion bars for the road wheels. I only glued the ends where they go into the opposite side wall which left the road wheel side movable, actually a moving suspension that let me adjust everything when the tracks were installed.
I got the opposite side done last night and am very happy to have that part behind me. It seemed to take forever. The individual links are two pieces affairs where you have a small link that fits between links.
I think tonight I put the back plate on. I have a tendency to bounce around working on certain areas I feel like at the moment, however after looking at the road wheels and suspension I concentrated just on that in case the whole thing went south on me. But now that's behind me.

Yeah, I’ve never put track links together and find the concept most intimidating, which is why I never dove into Friuls. Interesting in the ‘bounce around’ comment… I find I tend to stay with the instruction booklet from Step 1 to completion and rarely deviate, now that I think about it; I’m probably too concerned with missing something that will be a bitch to course correct after the fact

I just look through the instructions well and say a little prayer.

Putting on some finishing touches. I'm not crazy about the plastic Academy has used, it's soft and when sanded leaves a plastic residual behind. I use Contacta and Tamiya Liquid cement, both seem to strong for the plastic, and when using CA the bond on some of the parts seems brittle and prone to popping off. So what I have done is place the part with a drop of Contacta and then after getting the part aligned right I put a drop of CA along with it. Seems to work, at least I have only had one piece pop off again. I don't know how well I described that, McCoy probably knows what I'm trying to say, anyway it's been kind of a frustrating build. But now the finish line is in sight. Hopefully!

…hmmm, I’ve not has a kit with that soft a plastic, thank goodness…I’m not sure I would have had the patience to plug on, and not toss the whole thing in the dust bin!

Thought of setting it aside as you know I'm discovering all this at the beginning of the build, and as you say "not being sure I would have had the patience." That's why I used all the spare track links on the turret, I don't think the small hangers would stand the test of time without the track links more or less protecting them.

That was a head’s up call on the links. I also get the, wanting to finish what you started…that’s what that bloody Revel P-51D Mustang build of mine has been for me and why I’ve not given up on it…albeit, it is taking me a hell of a long time to finish
