Maybe I should just leave them as is. I'm terrible with SS camo anyway!

WOW! Nice!!! What size and dimension height? Resin? Striking detail… you planning a round wooden base at the end… that style display had a name, but damn if I can remember it.

Nah just can't leave them like that. Flesh coat on and first wash to pop out facial detail. Also carved up some PzIV track section to put under the one guys foot otherwise he had both feet off the ground.

Sorry Em. They are 1/35 resin figures by Coree. Don't think they have been around for awhile.

WOW, great price, too! The detail is unbelievable! On your wash, I remember you saying you use left over paint sludge… do you put any dishwashing soap in to release tension? I take it you angle your brush across the face when putting it on? I was reading something today on how some folks put clean water in the figure first, and then the wash… I’m nit sure I’m comfortable with that, lol.

No dish soap just sludge, I have never tried water but I usually put a coat of future on first or mix some of my sludge with the future, that works well too.
I mainly use a small tip brush and apply my wash to the eyes and nose and mouth area. I don't just load up a brush and make one pass soaking it, more of a pin wash.

That makes sense on the dish soap in particular, if you’re doing more of a pin wash application…you’d not need it as you’re concentrating color, I guess would be the way to say it… I like that idea for the eyes and mouth — and any specific area for that matter — I’d not really thought of that! I’ve in,y ever used pin washes, and Future for that matter, in model building; that gave me a lot to think about for miniatures… would you say the Future application on the mini helps get the wash sludge where you want it? …or is it more to not discolor the paint surface too much? …or a little of both?

Yes, I would say a pre treatment of floor wax helps my sludge flow into the recesses of the face easier. Also like the fact that helmets usually sit just above the eyeline anyway and keeps the eyes themselves in shadow . My washes are not heavy with color as I prefer to build up shadows with numerous applications depending on area. I have to say these SS camo smocks are tough to paint, even with watching videos on it I'm not sure I can pull it off.

That camo is indeed a tough one… even attempting it is a win in my book! And thanks for the tip on the Future…I’m gonna try that.

And thanks for the tip on the Future…I’m gonna try that. I would thin it down if using on 15mm or you may lose detail.

Slowly working on it. SS camo is tough, at least for me.
