Well, after stumbling and bumbling my way through 4 turns I have decided to reset the game and start over. I should have known better then to post this first game as this is pretty much the way they go for me. On the plus side I now know where I went wrong in a few spots actually, so onward and upwards as they say. You know, if it makes you feel any better… that’s generally the story of my life with any new system in particular, and even some older systems that I “forget” key mechanics… but yes, I find I am almost always playing something wrong in new systems, only to figure it out later. Nothing wrong with that really, as the point is to learn these games to enjoy playing… and I personally take comfort in not only knowing I am not alone in this, but sometimes it gives insight in how a mechanic done one way really doesn’t work, and why it’s designed the way it is… as a designer, that’s gold! Plus, seeing games in play is Eye Candy for me, personally, so I am never disappointed if the game play has to be abandoned. I’ve had to do a hard reset in games in the past, so I understand the feeling of, “should I or should I not” have posted a thread… I’m glad you did!

Em "Only to figure it out later."
Yes buddy, I was having the devil of a time just exactly how Soviet Army HQ's were supposed to work. Turns out if I would have just continued with the turn I quit on I would have figured it out. The rule still feels a little odd but I know it's where the designer is coming from. Another thing was the map, the roads and RR's are thin lines, to thin imo and I didn't realize the main RR line was broken about 10 hexes into the map, this after running all kinds of reinforcements to the front as if the line was intact. Anyway I'm back to where I reset from and things are running much smoother now.
