Finished my last group guitar course this past Monday and it was worth the $126 for six weeks’ instruction. Going into it expecting to strum some chords and maybe sing a couple songs, it was actually nothing like that jam session style experice I was kinda expecting… it was honest to good, real music instruction; beginner yes, but still hardcore music learning! All six stings were covered for the first positions and third positions (first and third frets), as well as the A on the fifth fret 1st string. We did cover maybe six or seven chords, very briefly, but this whole course was finger picking… totally unexpected, but a great experience to have gone through and it unlocked so much of the guitar to me.
The course gave me the beginning fundamentals of finger style, which I can build upon on my own. From here, I will continue on that path… I really want to get my fingerpicking down. I look forward to moving back to chords now, though and trying to incorporate some songs in there!
